Deductions can be applied across different parts of MRI Vault, including pre-distribution, agent, and agent expense deductions.

This article covers:

• Apply pre-distribution deductions
• Apply agent deductions
• Apply an agent expense deduction

If you haven't set up customised deductions, you can do this first.

Apply pre-distribution deductions

You have the option to enable pre-distribution deductions during the sales process, allowing you to deduct from the total gross commission before splits and agent allocations.

1. Go to: The property profile
2. Click Modify Sales Details or
3. Convert a listing to Conditional (Under Offer) status
   
4. Click the plus (+) symbol under deductions
   

The Add Deduction/Fee screen will appear, where you can add a new deduction:

• Fee - Select from the drop-down menu
• Type - Select whether this is a Fixed Fee or a Percentage
• Amount - Enter the amount to apply

Once added, this will apply the deduction against the total gross commission

Apply agent deductions

You have the option to apply an agent deduction against the agents defined within the splits. These deductions can be taken off the total gross commission of the targeted agents' split or divided between the agent and the office.

1. Go to: The property profile
2. Click Modify Sales Details or
3. Convert a listing to Conditional (Under Offer) status
4. Click the Financials tab > Agent Deductions tab
5. Click on the plus (+) symbol next to the desired agent
   

The Add Deduction/Fee screen will appear, where you can add a new deduction:

• Fee - Select from the drop-down menu
• Type - Select whether this is a Fixed Fee or a Percentage
• Amount - Enter the amount to apply

6. Click Add

This will apply the deduction either to be taken from the agent's share of the commission or split with the office.

Apply an agent expense deduction

You can apply a deduction against an agent's commission report, which will reduce the agent's total commission.

1. Go to: Financials > Commissions
2. Click Open Commission Report for the desired agent
   
3. Under Less Expenses, click the plus (+) symbol
   

The Add Deduction/Expense screen will appear, where you can add a new deduction:

• Fee - Select from the drop-down menu
• Amount - Enter the amount to apply

Once added, this will apply the deduction against the agent's total commission.
