Learn how to create and organise custom database fields to capture property and contact-specific information.

Note: You need system admin access to manage custom database fields.
Create field groups
Field groups help organise custom fields for contacts and properties.
- Go to: Settings > Database Fields
- Select the Contact Field Groups or Property Field Groups tabs
- Click Add Field Group
- Enter:
- Group Name
- Position on the contact/property card

Contact Types the group applies to
- Click Save
Tip: Field groups make it easier to categorise and manage custom fields.
Add custom fields
Once you have field groups, add custom fields:
- Go to: Settings > Database Fields
- Click the Contact Fields or Property Fields tabs
- Click Add New Database Field
- Enter:
- Field Name

Field Type:
- Date (DD/MM/YYYY or DD/MM)
- Checkbox (True/False)
- Numeric (floating point)
- Short Text (100 characters)
- Text (multi-paragraph)
- Drop-down Selection (up to 30 options)
- Assign to an existing Field Group
- Select Placement
- Set a Merge Field Name
- Click Save
After saving, you can capture data through the contact or property card and use merge fields in templates.
Custom property fields are available in the MRI Vault mobile app.
