About event types and SMS reminders
Event types define the purpose of calendar entries in Vault, such as appraisals, events, or scheduled viewings. They help standardise how activities are recorded and determine whether automated SMS reminders can be sent.
Each event type can be configured with its own reminder timing and SMS templates. This allows offices to automatically notify owners, tenants, attendees, or other contacts before an event occurs, reducing missed appointments and manual follow‑ups.
Access event types
Event types are managed from system settings.
To access event types:
- Go to: Settings
- Select Event Types
This screen displays all existing event types and their SMS reminder settings.
Event types available:
- Appraisal
- Event
- Marketing schedule approved
- Scheduled viewing
Additional event types can be created to suit office workflows, such as inspections or meetings.
Add a new event type
New event types can be created if required.
To add an event type:
- Click Add new event type
- Enter a Name
- Select an Icon
- Click Save
- Configure SMS reminders
Configure SMS reminders for event types
SMS reminders are configured at the event type level and control when messages are sent and who receives them.
To configure SMS reminders:
- Locate the required event type
- Select the SMS reminders checkbox
- Select when the SMS should be sent using the When field (for example, 30 minutes before the event)
- Assign SMS templates for applicable contact roles such as Owner, Tenant, Attached Contact, or attendee
- Select Save/Update to apply the changes
If no SMS template is selected for a contact role, an SMS will not be sent to that contact type.
